Dichotomy

The traffic was unusually dense on my morning commute. I wasn't really assessing it though, my early-morning mind was wandering down other avenues. It grasped onto seeing if I could still recite a psalm I'd memorized years ago. Midway through recalling the psalmist's praise of a transcendent God, a stupid teal sedan swerved out in front of me. I slam on my brakes and blurt out, "#$@% you! Damn it!"

After the heart palpitations died down I realized the transition I had made in a few short seconds, from meditating on the author of my being to furiously castigating my fellow man. I suppose humiliation should've followed, but I found it hilarious. I couldn't stop grinning through the rest of the drive. Humanity is ridiculous.
