Plashy Fens

"He's the Prime Minister's favorite writer. -- He's supposed to have a particularly high-class style: 'Feather-footed through the plashy fens passes the questing vole' . . . would that be it?"

"Yes," said the Managing Editor. "That must be good style. At least it doesn't sound like anything else to me."

Toast

I inherited my avocado green Sears Kenmore toaster in college. It's all I've ever had. All I've ever used. For toast. The light/dark setting is non-functional. I have filled the house with toast smoke more times than I'd like to admit. A handy way to check smoke detector batteries.

Time moves on.
Toaster technology progresses.
Paychecks increase in heft.
Time to upgrade.
Or IS it?
How about a little retrograde, instead?

This little guy is from the 1920s.
In pristine, unused condition.
Why forge ahead, when what is behind is so enchanting?
And toasts bagels so well.
