Brain-Bending

Matter flows from place to place and momentarily comes together to be you. Whatever you are, therefore, you are not the stuff of which you are made. If that doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, read it again until it does, because it's important. ~ Steve Grand (computer scientist specializing in artificial intelligence)

Two Hands, Rodin

I wish, then, to speak of science in the highest sense of the word, as the astonishingly fruitful human venture into understanding the world and the universe.--Science thus defined does not claim to understand gravity, light, or time. This is a very short list of its mystifications, its inquiries, all of which are beautiful to ponder. These three are sufficient to persuade me that conclusions about the ultimate nature of things are, to say the least, premature, and that to suggest otherwise is unscientific. The finer-grained the image of reality physicists achieve, the more alien it appears to every known strategy of comprehension. ~ Marilyn Robinson
